Fun Stops

Nauvoo just keeps getting better each time I go. It's such an amazing city! It was Steve's first time and he loved it. We were able to do a session at the temple and then go to a few of the sites. The trail of hope was really nice. The pic above is one of the quotes on the trail. It is the path that the saints took as they were leaving Nauvoo...as they were leaving they could see the beautiful temple that they were leaving behind which gave them so much hope and assurance as they set out on their journey. We also stopped at Kirtland. Kirtland is beautiful! Almost every inch of ground is covered in dark green trees. The sites here are a must see. When you go be sure to see the video in the visitor center. It is shown only in the Kirtland visitor center and is based mostly on Newel K. Whitney and his wife. There was such a different spirit in our visitor center compared to the one down the road. The old Whitney store was one of the highlights. It was surreal to be in the same room that Joseph recieved 17 D&C revelations. The little room upstairs...aka...The School of the Prophets had a humbling atmosphere. When President Hinckley visited a few years ago he said that that very room is the most sacred room out of all of the historic sites that the church owns. I didn't know this before, but Christ appeared in that room...Joseph and a few others saw him. That is significant! The Kirtland temple was uplifting as well. Steve and I both felt the spirit very strongly in the room that Heavenly Father, Christ, Moses, Elijah and Elias all appeared. In both Nauvoo and Kirtland it was crazy to think that Joseph walked in the same places that we walked.
