Anyways, below is a bit about what we have been up to.
Spain
I was fortunate enough to be able to take a public relations course in Barcelona in May. One of my professors is Mr. Network King and knows about everybody in the world. He knows a professor that teaches at a school in Barcelona…very similar to Emerson. The two professors thought it would be a good idea to team up and offer a course for us Americanos. It involved lectures, visits to different organizations, and participation in an International PR Conference. I was there for 2 ½ weeks and loved every minute of it. My friend Sruthi and I even snuck off one of the weekends and flew to Prague. The whole trip was probably one of the best experiences I’ve had and I got to know a culture in a whole new way…straight from the locals.
Boston Visits
Bethany and Erin came to visit! It is always fun to see good friends and fall right back into “how things use to be.” We have all grown older and maybe even matured a bit, but when we get back together it is as if things never changed. Picture this…Bethany and I in Plymouth running and sword fighting every time we crossed the street. And yes, cars did have to stop for us at the crosswalks and were forced to watch our battles. We found plastic toy swords in one of the gift shops and just had to put them to good use.
It was so good to see Erin and her hubby. We went to the Aquarium, to Salem, and the North End (nobody visiting Boston should miss out on the yummy food there or on Mike’s Pastries).
When Beth was here we went to a Red Sox game, Plymouth, and did part of the Freedom Trail. Plymouth was a blast. We rented a small boat and aimlessly explored the sea. When Beth was driving we started to approach a ferry boat. We kept getting closer and closer so I turned to Beth and said, “What are you doing!?” She went into panic mode as she was trying to maneuver out of the way and instead of turning away from the boat, she kept spinning us in circles. I can’t imagine what the people on the ferry boat were thinking…watching as two crazy girls were screaming/laughing and spinning in circles trying to dodge them. We are still alive, so I guess that is all that matters.
A Taste of India
Sruthi’s momma came to visit and all of us classmates begged for her to cook us dinner. We had all heard of how great of a cook she is. They invited us over and all I can say is YUMMY! Now that she is gone, I think Sruthi and I will be making quite a few runs to the Indian food store so we can try out some of her recipes.
Beach Trips
Neither of us has ever lived this close to the beach and we are taking full advantage of it! The water is freezing, but the beach bum life is still the best. I take Pam’s (the lady we work for) two kids every week and Steve and I have been a few times. We have been to beaches up the coast of Mass, Maine, and New Hampshire. This is one thing I will definitely miss when we move back home.
New York
Steve has never been to New York and we finally snuck down for the weekend. We had a blast! Steve loved it so much that he wouldn’t mind living there for a while. Hmmm….who knows. While there we went to a Broadway play, the Met, ground zero, central park, and did a lot of walking! We stayed the night at a Best Western in Newark, NJ. Newark is the most odd city I have EVER been to. As we pulled in that evening, there were hardly any people out on the streets. With all of the sky rise buildings in the area it seems like there would be more than 4 people out. It was a weekend night too…weird!
4th of July
For the 4th we met up with some friends downtown to watch the fireworks. We had a perfect view right along the Charles River, thanks to Kali and Wade. The firework show was amazing! Kali and Wade just moved back to Utah and we are going to miss them…and stinkin cute little Miles.
